Born in Sosnowiec in 1975, he graduated from the secondary school of fine arts in Dąbrowa Górnicza in 1995. A year later, he took up studies at the Faculty of Graphic Art of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków (branch in Katowice). He defended his diploma project titled Okna miasta (City windows) under the supervision of Prof. Marian Oslislo in 2001. The series of posters illustrating episodes from the lives of young people in a prefab housing estate was presented at the NOVART exhibition of young Polish artists in Kraków in 2002. Jakub Adamek obtained the degree of Doctor of Fine Arts in 2008. His project titled Zwierzęta są trwałe. Iluzje, gry, symulacje w Animal Planet (The animals last. Illusions, games and simulations in Animal Planet) was supervised by Prof. Antoni Cygan. Jakub Adamek has been teaching the first year’s Painting Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice since 2004.
