Born in 1955, he studied material engineering at the AGH University of Science and Technology (1975-1980) and film and TV direction at the Faculty of Radio and Television of the University of Silesia in Katowice (1980-1984). One of his teachers of direction was Krzysztof Kieślowski, who was the artistic supervisor of Zygalski's final project, the short film titled Wyspa (Island). Krzysztof Zygalski worked for the WFO (Educational Film Studio) in Łódź and for the Karol Irzykowski Film Studio in Warsaw, and started his own Terminals film studio in 1991. A teacher at the Multimedia Studio since 2013, he has directed or produced over 50 films, including documentaries, features and commercials.
