Contemporary Romani art and the art world today. Challenges for the curator.

In 2023, Wojciech Szymański was the curator of the Polish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and he will include this experience in his talk.
Wojciech Szymański, art critic and historian, curator, author and editor of books and catalogues. He deals with contemporary Romani art; curator of group exhibitions of Roma art by Kali Berg at Kai Dikhas Galerie in Berlin (2017) and The Law of Gaze at Galeria Szara Kamienica in Kraków (together with Delaine Le Bas, 2018). He is the curator of Małgorzata Mirga-Tas's exhibitions: 29. Ceroplastic exercises at the Polish Sculpture Centre in Orońsko (2020), Exodus from Egypt at the Arsenał Gallery in Białystok (2021), recognized by the "Frieze" magazine as one of the ten most important exhibitions of the year in Europe, Wandering paintings at the MCK Gallery in Kraków (2022, together with Natalia Żak). Curator (together with Joanna Warsza) of Małgorzata Mirga-Tas's exhibition "Transforming the World" in the Polish Pavilion at the 59th La Biennale di Venezia International Art Exhibition.
He works as an assistant professor at the Institute of Art History at the University of Warsaw, and a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Katowice.
