Lesya Ukrainka / Gabriela Zapolska: parallel biographies
International exhibition in Lutsk
The Branding Studio headed by Prof. Katarzyna Gawrych-Olender continues to cooperate with Poland’s diplomatic service. Following the successful ‘Cześć Brześć’ (2019) project, this year the studio was asked by the Polish General Consulate in Lutsk to carry out the ‘Lesya Ukrainka / Gabriela Zapolska: parallel biographies’ project.
To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Larysa Petrivna Kosach, a great poet with significant contribution to Ukrainian culture, and the 100th death anniversary of the Polish playwright Gabriela Zapolska, the Polish General Consulate proposed a joint Polish-Ukrainian exhibition of posters and funded awards for the artists.
Prof. Prof. Katarzyna Gawrych-Olender coordinated the Polish part of the project. The works were created in the Branding Studio and Poster Studio under the supervision of dr hab. Monika Starowicz. The Ukrainian part was coordinated by Oleksandr Pankovets from the PVS association.
Project team: Katarzyna Gawrych-Olender (coordinator), dr Marian Słowicki (supervising teacher, research), Piotr Dzik (research, texts), Marcin Kasperek (supervising teacher, catalogue).
Award winners: Karolina Dąbrowska, Maria Jarzyna, Marta Janus, Natalia Jachnik (Poland) and Olesia Bakhynska and Victoria Romanchuk (Ukraine).
The exhibition opening took part in Lutsk (Ukraine) on 21 September 2021, accompanied by the launch of a multi-lingual catalogue.
