A specialist studio formed in 2009 in the structure of the Printmaking Department. Books created at the studio are meant to be experimental. Students have the opportunity to use their editorial graphics skills in working on art projects. The principle of the studio is to treat formal and conceptual elements equally. This eliminates the possibility of making art books that are purely aesthetic objects. The teachers task students with presenting a convincing connection between the idea of the work and its visual form. They also require creative application of the knowledge of technology. The studio provides practical help in this regard by organizing workshops and consultations with a professional bookbinder and supports any form of combining techniques and employing unique technological solutions. The studio also puts into practice the results of statutory research, which include, among others, revitalization of traditional bookbinding craft to enable the use of historical knowledge in the field of book art for contemporary graphic art concepts.
