Absence
Beata Stankiewicz, Krzysztof Rzeźniczek, Wojciech Woźniak present their works at the BWA galery in Bydgoszcz.
Abandoned house interiors, dilapidated public buildings, deserted cityscapes create spaces of absence and, at the same time, of a weirdly emphasised, timeless presence.
The latest works by Krzysztof Rzeźniczek, a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Katowice, most frequently depict a deserted small town night view, with elements of road infrastructure, an island with a single tree, and a lighting pole. Sometimes there is a lonely figure or a car parked on the side of the road. In the harsh, artificial light, the ordinary surroundings and even accidental situations and objects appearing in them create a mysterious atmosphere, resounding with surreal anxiety.
