Jacek Mrowczyk was born in Kraków in 1972. He is a graphic designer, editor, curator, researcher, and educator. He graduated from the High School of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Industrial Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. He earned his PhD in Fine Arts in 2005 and his postdoctoral degree (habilitation) in 2014.

He is the co-founder and editor of the Polish design quarterly 2+3D, which was published from 2001 to 2016. He is also the author of articles and books on graphic design.

Jacek Mrowczyk has received numerous awards and honors and has served as a jury member for design competitions in Poland and abroad. He was a Fulbright Fellow at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York (2001/2002) and a Kosciuszko Foundation Fellow at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, USA (2006/2007).

He worked as an assistant at the Department of Visual Communication at the Faculty of Industrial Design, Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, from 1999 to 2007. Since 2007, he has been employed at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Katowice. Beginning in 2008, he has been a visiting lecturer at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence. He lectures and leads workshops at various institutions in Poland and abroad.
