Born in Zawiercie in 1968, he lives in Gliwice. He studied at the Faculty of Graphic Art of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków (branch in Katowice) at Prof. Jacek Rykała’s Drawing and Painting Studio, and Prof. Adam Romaniuk’s Lithography Techniques Studio, graduating in 1993. He taught at the art school of the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology in 1994-1995, and at the secondary school of fine arts in Zabrze in 1996-2007. He was deputy headmaster of the school for nine years, and became headmaster in his last year at the school. He taught sculpture and spatial objects at the college of IT and medical sciences in Chorzów in 2007-2013. He has been teaching sculpture at AFA Katowice since 2009. He is the founder and leader of the Snow Art Poland team, which has been creating snow sculptures since 2014. Together with the team, Tomasz Koclęga has participated in the world’s most important snow sculpture competitions, winning numerous prizes. His sculptures have been displayed in the public spaces of many towns, including Oxford, Pacółtowo, Bratislava, Sapporo and Nayoro (Japan), Harbin (China), Świętochłowice, Zawiercie, Katowice and Wrocław.
