Art Therapy: June 2021 Bachelor’s diploma projects
Rondo Sztuki Gallery presents the diploma projects of the interdisciplinary programme students. 16:00-18:00 on 10 June and 15:00-18:00 on 11 June.
Art Therapy is an interdisciplinary study programme delivered jointly by three Katowice institutions of higher education: the University of Silesia (Faculty of Social Sciences), Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice (Department of Composition, Conducting, Theory and Music Education) and Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice (Faculty of Art).
The students gain knowledge and skills in three areas: art (including visual arts and music), social sciences and humanities.
They learn the tenets and special characteristics of visual art therapy, music therapy, choreotherapy, bibliotherapy, and drama therapy. With the use of music, dance, visual arts or literature, the students create original interdisciplinary art therapy projects to implement in the social environment.
An Art Therapy graduate also has basic psychotherapy knowledge and competences. As a result, the study programme prepares the graduate to conduct art therapy activities for people with disabilities of different etiology, specificity and dimension, and for people with social emotional, mental or educational disorders.
The exhibition of the diploma projects will be open 16:00-18:00 on 10 June and 15:00-18:00 on 11 June. Rules of visiting the Rondo Sztuki Gallery and current epidemiological restrictions apply.
