Design 32 at Łódź Design Festival
From 17 to 20 September Łódź Design Festival presents four projects that won awards in the Design 32 competition for best diploma projects of Polish art universities, and an exhibition created by the AFA Katowice students as an aftermath of their project titled Materials and Context: Aspen Bast.
The exhibited works are:
- Washstand. Practical object by Karolina Gardzilewicz, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. The design comprises a set of vessels and a stand intended for daily use, evoking simple water use systems.
- Living in a tree. HUBA project by Paweł Lewandowski from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk: a tent to hang in a tree, designed for nature watchers and photographers.
- ILECA-28: design of a device improving the comet assay procedure by Marta Wolta, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź.
- I remember: a set of objects to commemorate the dead, replacing traditional grave lanterns, by Marta Piątek from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice.
The Aspen exhibition is the effect of the Materials and Contexts class in the Design study programme at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. Its goal is to encounter traditional crafts. The works are the result of using aspen bast and seeking new applications for it.
