German Design Awards for AFA graduates and teacher
Awards for two visual information systems designed by Blank Studio from Tychy
The German Design Council has granted the German Design Award Gold to the wayfinding system of the Mediateka building in Tychy. What is particularly important, the jury selects only one “gold” winner in each category.
The main problem the Blank Studio designers faced while designing the wayfinding system for the building was the small budget of the institution. As a result, they decided to use popular materials.

The German Design Award Winner title was granted to the visual information system for the walking circuit in the historical Nikiszowiec district in Katowice.
The designers of the walking circuit wayfinding system were tasked with adapting the elements of the system to the architecture of the surroundings. To refer to the characteristic features of the estate (redbrick walls, red window sills and frames) , they have chosen a narrow range of colours.
