In Praise of the Workshop: exhibition of prints
‘Printmaking workshop: two pieces of praise and one of criticism,’ Galeria Koszarowa 19, exhibition from 17 November.
In Praise of the Workshop project 2018-2021
In her books on architecture design, Juhani Pallasma notices the disappearance of a direct link between the imagination and the external world as a result of the domination of digital imaging. She proposes combining analogue techniques with sensual experience in order to save oneself from this ‘flattening out’ of perception.
Following this line of thought, ‘In Praise of the Worskhop’ honours handiwork, the long process of creation and uncertainty about the result in the form of a print.
2021 Printmaking workshop: two pieces of praise and one of criticism, AFAD Katowice, curators: Halina Cader – Pawłowska, Mateusz Rafalski
The invited artists are requested to present ‘offensive works’ which transgress the limits of technology as seen by traditionalists on the one hand, and on the other hand stubbornly ignore the new media or use them as auxiliary in the process of creating a classic paper-based print.
