“ŁACH” wins best student project in Stena Circular Economy Award competition
Łukasz Ziemba from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice has won the student project category
This year’s Stena Circular Economy Award competition has attracted great interest among students of various fields and companies of all categories, including start-ups, medium-sized enterprises and well-known corporations. The 4th edition of the competition has received a record number of 57 entries, including 18 from students.
From the “Circular economy implementation proposals” submitted by students, the main award was granted to Łukasz Ziemba from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice for his project titled “Łach,”, which engages prison inmates in the production of cases for telephones, laptops or tablets. The products are made from scrap material left over from the production of workwear. Honourable mentions went to Piotr Długosz and Jacek Organiściak from the Lodz University of Technology for their “Nondisposable courier packaging” project meant to minimise waste in courier services by using nondiposable packaging made of “green” polymers.
