W. Fangor post-competition exhibition: Pola Gadowska and Szymon Poloczek
The works of two AFAD Katowice graduates shown at Zbrojownia Sztuki in Gdańsk until 25 October
Pola Gadowska
Born in 1966, she graduated from the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (Prof. Wojciech Zubala’s studio). She focuses on painting, textiles and ceramics. Her work combine the inspirations drawn from fold cut-outs, tattoos and graffiti.
Szymon Poloczek (born in Katowice in 1944)
In 2019, he defended his Bachelor’s diploma project titled “The Faces of Resistance” (BWA Gallery; supervisor: Prof. dr hab. Józef Budka) at the Lithography Techniques Studio of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. He continues his painting studies at the Faculty of Art in Prof. Zbigniew Blukacz’s studio. He also makes documentaries; his latest film titled ‘Idę do światła’ (‘I go to the light’) was nominated for the main prize at the Kameralne Lato film festival. Szymon Poloczek took part in the Student Painting of the Year exhibition at the AFA Katowice (Rondo Sztuki Gallery), and received an honorary mention in the Wojciech Fangor Polish Student Painting Competition.
