Young Design 2020: AFA Katowice student wins
AFA Katowice graduate also in the top 10
AFA Katowice student Oliwia Otręba has won the Wanda Telakowska scholarship in the Young Design 2020 competition with her design of Cover Voronoi, a flexible cover for a thigh prosthetic. In addition to shielding the prosthetic, the cover also simulates the leg shape, which is especially appreciated by trousers-wearing users. Another advantage of the one-piece cover is the method of putting it on that prevents its slipping during use.
An honourable mention went to AFA Katowice graduate Klaudia Żmuda for her design of the body of a telemedicine device for remote ultrasound examination.
Young Design is the first Polish scholarship programme for students and graduates of design, started in 2008. The competition is intended to showcase the most promising designers of the young generation: those who understand the market and who will have the skills to cooperate with the industry.
The competition is organised by the Industrial Design Institute.
