To say that the last couple of years have been difficult and even depressing is not original but the awareness still strikes us as surprising and disturbing. The sense of a crisis, disorientation of the moral compass, feeling of helplessness of modern technology in the face of nature’s power, lies as an inherent component of the public discourse, the impossible war that has become possible – all this has undermined the foundation on which we built the sense of certainty, meaning and happiness.
The 70 or so paintings/drawings created in the last two years follow a certain rhythm: each derived partly from the previous one or was its antithesis.
