Zofia Oslislo-Piekarska is a graduate of Graphic Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice (diploma in the Typography Studio, 2009), Cultural Studies as part of the Interdepartmental Individual Studies in the Humanities at the University of Silesia (2009), and MA Communication Design, Typeface Design Pathway (MATD) at the University of Reading in the UK (2024). Since 2009 she has been working in the Department of Graphic Design at her alma mater, teaching in the Typography Studio. She specialises in book design, typefaces and data visualisation. He takes up local themes in his research work. The book ‘Nowi Ślązacy. Miasto, dizajn, tożsamość’ is the result of an exploration of local design heritage. She is passionate about modernist architecture and works to popularise it, co-authoring an album and a walking tour. In typographic research projects, she focuses on the specificity of the Polish language, with projects such as ‘The Insects Project: Problems of Diacritic Design for Central European Languages’ and ‘Exploring Inclusive Approaches to Handwriting Instruction: A Case of the Polish Language’. In addition to his work at his alma mater and project activities, he conducts workshops and engages in interdisciplinary research projects.
