The Hater wins award in the USA
The set design for the film was created by Katarzyna Sobańska-Strzałkowska and Marcel Sławiński, teachers at the AFA Katowice.
The Hater, Jan Komasa’ latest film, has won the Best International Narrative Feature award at the Tribeca Film Festival. The jury included Danny Boyle and William Hurt.
The jury said about the film: ‘Incredibly relevant for today; we were really impressed by the way it portrayed a character that is not immediately empathetic but really got us into the journey and the story.’
Tribeca Film Festival is one of the most important events of independent cinema.
We have said it before and we are happy to say it again: we can be sure that films with the set design created by our teachers Katarzyna Sobańska-Strzałkowska and Marcel Sławiński will get noticed out in the world.

‘These two wizards create worlds which are often stunningly beautiful but also refined and consistent. Allan Starski believes that the work of a set designer is not just art but also craft. The Sobańska-Sławiński duo seems to have taken this belief and made it their own,’ wrote Polska Światłoczuła.
